After we all woke up and decided it was time to head upstairs we started off by meeting in the kitchen.
We all ventured into the front room where the tree was and wow... Santa out did himself this year. Typically Alaska Santa just leaves us stockings, but Utah Santa went all out and spoiled us.
Brig and I got a boat load of money. And it was actually a boat full of money. (The boat was origami)
Andy received an AMAZING house that Santa hired my mom to make. It's one of those card table play houses, where you put the fabric house over the card table. It really is amazing. And Andy loves it. Santa even left a letter in the houses mailbox with enough money to purchase a card table once we got back to Alaska.
Ezra received his Christmas present early. It was a play mat and we have used it a bunch so far. He likes looking in the mirror and hitting the toys that are hanging down.
We opened our theme presents first. The theme was "Missionary Christmas." My dad had us this year so he gave us a gift card that we could use to purchase items we would need on "Preparation day." It was nice and small and not hard to pack and bring back.
We had my brother Dustin this year and we had a lot of fun with his presents. We made him open them in an order that he had to figure out. There were six small presents so we used six seals that are from the book of Revelations in the Bible.
We also put a scripture that related to each gift on the outside of the packaging. I crocheted a hat, Brig gave him an "ugly" tie, and we gave him a journal, a funny t-shirt, the missionary library, and made a book of everyone's testimonies.
On Brigham's side of the family we had MaKell this year. I crocheted her a couple hats, one of which was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hat, and then I made her a pair of slippers as well. I need a picture of her in the hat because it looks so good on her, but alas... I was lame at taking pictures.
We gave both my parents and Brig's parents a stable for their crochet nativities that I made them last year.
And one of the sweetest presents that was given this year was from my sister Melanie to my mom. She had her for the theme presents so she made a CD for her called "Songs from your Missionary." On the CD was a Christmas song that my dad wrote for my mom one of the first Christmases they were married, my mom's favorite Hymn, The Christmas Waltz, my Precious Cargo song that I wrote for my mom for Mother's Day a several years ago, and then a song that Melanie wrote for my mom. She had Nicole and I help record the songs. When she gave my mom the CD she sang her the song she wrote. Pretty much everyone was bawling.
We made it over to the Moores after Andy's nap time and spent time hiking, singing, dancing, and talking. It was fun to be there because quite a few of the families made it up.
One thing that Andy did that was really cute was when we were playing a dancing game on the wii that someone had gotten for Christmas. Andy noticed that the people who were dancing had the wii-motes in their hands so he picked up a game cube controller off the ground and started dancing with them. It was adorable.
He loved spending time with his cousins. He just seems to really love being with and around people. Hopefully he learns to channel his enthusiasm as he gets older. :)
