Sea Life Cruise in Seward

One of the things that we did while my family was here was go down to Seward for a Sea Life cruise. This was also supposed to be a surprise, but since I usually do the finances I saw the charge for the hotel... oops.

Our friends the Atkinsons were also in on the gig and came with us.

*Funny side story: We were eating dinner with the Atkinsons one night and my birthday came up. Jed asked when it was and when I said the 26th he said something along the lines of, "Hey that's when we're coming back from..." and then he started getting attacked from under the table. It was really funny because I knew exactly what he was talking about.

So, my whole family and Jed (Jake, Julie and Oliver went down the night before) piled in the white van and traveled down to Seward Friday morning.

Our cruise was that afternoon, and after we finished we had dinner and then stayed at the Military resort down there and played some games. (Well, some of us played games while the rest of us passed out.)

It was a rainy day, but we were all prepared with warm jackets and rain gear. Oliver and Andy both have the same blue rain jacket and pants, so it was really fun to see them both running around on the dock together.

It was really fun to see the different wildlife.
All of the white on the rock is bird droppings.
The sea lions were just out chillin' on the rocks.

At the bottom of the next picture you can see what is called a Dall's Porpoise. (They look like a dolphin and a killer whale mixed together to me.) At one point during the cruise there was a whole school of them running with the boat. It was definitely my favorite part of the cruise watching them jump in and out of the water right along side of us.

While on the cruise there was plenty of opportunities for spectacular views and fun photo ops.

Apart from being out on the deck or eating lots of goodies, there was some napping that took place.

And also puking. But thankfully no one from our party.

So I'd call that a success!
