We went over to our good friends the Atkinson's and joined with them in their tradition of making a French dinner on Thanksgiving.
After our appetizers of crackers and cheese...
We had French Onion soup to start with, which Jake torched for us.
And then after an intermission we had duck, rolls, green beans, apple and sausage stuffing, and the most delicious gravy courtesy of James.
It wasn't too un-traditional because there was a turkey that made an appearance on the table...
And of course these guys were there.
For dessert we had this yummy cake that I don't remember the name of, with homemade vanilla ice cream.
And then like a normal Thanksgiving we lounge around after stuffing our faces and felt the effects of the triptofan that we didn't eat...
Well, except for maybe Andy. He pushed Oliver around on the John Deere tractor for quite some time.
It was a fabulous "French" Thanksgiving. (We had a turkey dinner with the Atkinson's last night as well. It was a good weekend.)
And here is our Thankful Turkey:
He is missing a few feathers on the bottom left side because someone (he'll be left un-named) learned to climb up on our fireplace hearth and may have started to pluck the feathers before this picture was taken.
He actually learned how to do that while I was fast asleep on the floor. I woke up to nice thud and when I looked at him he had feathers in his hand... guilty?
Thankfully, no serious harm was done to either Andy or the turkey.
Now on to our Thankful Turkey lists!
